Revival 3: Restoration & Delight

Apr 17, 2016    Joe Byler    Isaiah 61-62

1. Pastor Joe asked us: with all of the darkness that feels so overwhelming in our lives, in our city, and in our world, are any of our efforts toward restoration really worth it? Why? What good news is Isaiah preaching here? Who is he preaching it to in your community?

2. If Jesus is the Anointed One, as He claims in Luke 4, then His mission of restoration is also the Good News Isaiah writes of. How does our participation in the restoration of our communities change when we remember that Jesus is the Anointed One and we are not?

3. Jesus’ ministry of restoration is good news for our city (comfort instead of mourning, beauty instead of ashes, praise instead of weariness), but how is it good news and hope for us as believers? What does Isaiah 62 promise about how God feels toward us?

4. Read through Leviticus 25:8-17 about the Year of Jubilee. Pastor Joe challenged us to consider the Kingdom of God as a kingdom with a mindset of the Year of Jubilee. How should a mindset like this impact the way that we live with our neighbors, families, and co-workers? How does your Community Group put these ideals on display to your neighborhood?
