4.19.26 - Short North Sunday Gathering Liturgy

Short North Sunday Gathering Liturgy - April 19, 2026

Pause to reflect on the readings, prayers, and songs we share in together as the body of Christ at Sunday morning worship Gatherings.

CALL TO WORSHIP

CongregationPraise be to God,

Leader: who rescues us from the power of darkness;
who redeems us, and sets us free!

CongregationPraise be to Jesus Christ, the firstborn of all creation,

Leader: through whom all things were made,
in heaven and on the earth.

CongregationPraise be to the Spirit of God,

Leader: whose presence sustains us,
and whose breath renews all creation.

CongregationBehold! He is making all things new!
Come, O God, as You have made Your home among us.
Continue to pour out Your Spirit and renew the face of the earth.

- Adapted from New Heaven, New Earth

CONFESSION & ASSURANCE

CongregationFather of our Lord Jesus Christ,
ever faithful to your promises
and ever close to us, your beloved children:
the earth rejoices in hope of the Savior’s coming
and looks forward with longing
to his return at the end of time.
Prepare our hearts and heal the sadness
that hinders us from feeling the joy and hope
that his presence bestows,
for he is Lord for ever and ever. Amen.

BENEDICTION

Leader: May you walk by faith, not by sight,
with confidence in the groaning and hope in what is to come.
And may the Spirit within you
be your assurance and your strength,
until you are fully at home with the Lord.
Peace be with you.

CongregationAnd also with you!

What a Beautiful Name (Hermoso Nombre)
Verse 1
You were the word at the beginning, One with God the Lord Most High
Your hidden glory in creation, Now revealed in You our Christ

Chorus 1
What a beautiful name it is, what a beautiful name it is
The name of Jesus Christ my King
What a beautiful name it is, Nothing compares to this
What a beautiful name it is, the name of Jesus

Verse 2
Dejaste el cielo por salvarme
Me viniste a rescatar
Mi transgresión tú perdonaste
Nada nos separará

Chorus 2

Bridge 2
You have no rival, You have no equal, Now and forever God You reign
Yours is the Kingdom, Yours is the Glory, Yours is the name above all names

Chorus 3
What a powerful name it is, What a powerful Name it is

The name of Jesus Christ my King
What a powerful name it is, Nothing can stand against
What a powerful name it is, the name of Jesus
What a powerful name it is, the name of Jesus
What a powerful name it is, the name of Jesus
Abide With Me
Verse 1
Abide with me; fast falls the even tide; The darkness deepens; Lord with me abide.
When other helpers, fail and comforts flee, Help of the helpless, abide with me.

Verse 2
Thou on my head, in early youth didst smile; And, though rebellious, and perverse meanwhile,
Thou hast not left me, as I oft left Thee, On to the close Lord, abide with me.

Verse 3
I need Thy presence, every passing hour. What but Thy grace, can foil the tempter’s power?
Who, like Thyself, my guide and stay can be? Through cloud and sunshine, abide with me.

Verse 4
I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless, Ills have no weight, tears lose their bitterness
Where is thy sting death? Where grave thy Victory? I triumph still, abide with me.

Verse 5
Hold Thou Thy cross, before my closing eyes;
Shine through the gloom, and point me to the skies.
Heaven’s morning breaks, and earth’s vain shadows flee;
In life, in death, Lord, abide with me.
In life, in death, Lord, abide with me.
Abba
Verse 1
In the moments when nothing makes sense,
as we wander in the wilderness;
we've been searching for your love; searching for your answer
we've been searching for your love
In the moments when the storm clouds shadow,
and our window of escape has narrowed;
we've been crying for your help; crying for your rescue
we've been crying for your help; crying for your help

Chorus
(but) You turn your ear to your children
You spread your open arms
And not one prayer will be wasted
You hear us when we cry out "Abba!" "Abba!" "Abba!"
You hear us when we cry out "Abba!" "Abba!" "Abba!"

Verse 2
In the moments when everything hurts,
and we can't imagine anything worse;
we've been pleading for the cure; pleading for your healing
we've been pleading for the cure
In the moments when our grief rolls in,
and it suffocates the hope within;
We’ve been clinging to your Word; clinging to your promise
We’ve been clinging to your Word, clinging to your Word

Chorus

Bridge
(And) your Word tells me that you want to be my everything,
that you want to be close to me; you are my father, you are my father (x2-x3?)
your Word tells me that you want to be my everything,
that you want to be close to me; you are my father, you are my father
your Word tells me that you want to be my everything,
that you want to be close to me; you are my father

Chorus
Holy Spirit
Bridge:
Let us become more aware of Your Presence
Let us experience the Glory of Your Goodness
Let us become more aware of Your Presence
Let us experience the Glory of Your Goodness

I Am Set Free
Verse 1:
You broke my chains of sin and shame, And You covered me with grace
And You mend my life with Your holy fire, You cover me with grace
and You are the hand that reaches out to save

Chorus:
I am set free, I am set free, It is for freedom, that I am set free

Verse 2:
You broke my chains of sin and shame, And You covered me with grace
And You mend my life with Your holy fire, You cover me with grace
and You are the hand that reaches out to save

Chorus:
I am set free, I am set free, It is for freedom, that I am set free
I am set free, I am set free, It is for freedom, that I am set free

Bridge:
And yes Lord, we are grateful for Your grace and for Your love (x4)
You are the hand that reaches out to say

Chorus:
I am set free, I am set free, It is for freedom, that I am set free
I am set free, I am set free, It is for freedom, that I am set free
