CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: Praise the Lord! Our soul praises you, O Lord. We will sing praises to you as long as we live. We will not idolize governments or influential people, nor will we put our hope in them to save us.
Congregation: We are blessed because we hope and trust in you. O God who created the world and everything in it. You were a faithful God to our spiritual fathers and mothers, and you remain unchanging and faithful to us in this time and on to the end of time.

Leader: Lord, we confess that we are often swept up in the tide of our culture. We have failed in our calling to be your holy people, a people set apart for your divine purpose.
Congregation: We live in apathy rather than hope-filled passion. We are motivated more by private ambition than by justice. We desire privilege and benefits rather than service and sacrifice. We try to speak in your name without relinquishing our glory. Forgive us for our idolatry and disunity. Help us to make more room in our hearts for you and for the people you love.

Leader: O God of all creation, you alone are God. And you alone can satisfy our longing for salvation that earth cannot give and that heaven will not take away.
Congregation: Help us recognize our absolute need of your saving mercy, and in turn, help us acknowledge our need of one another. As we look to you for salvation and grace, unify us so that we can meet the needs of each other. Let the oneness of our worship make us one in love and service. Amen.
