9.7.25 - Short North Sunday Gathering Liturgy

Short North Sunday Gathering Liturgy - September 7, 2025

Pause to reflect on the readings, prayers, and songs we share in together as the body of Christ at Sunday morning worship Gatherings.

CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader: Come, bless the Lord,
in whom we find our refuge and safety.

CongregationYou are our God;
all the good things come from You alone.

Leader: Come, bless the Lord,
who guides us on the path to eternal life,
whose presence strengthens and sustains us.

CongregationYou are our God; we will not be shaken.
Let’s worship God together!

- Based on Psalm 16

CONFESSION / ASSURANCE

Leader: We have blinded our eyes to the needs of our brother and sister with the blindfold of comfort.

CongregationLord, open our eyes to see as you do in your love.

Leader: We have muffled the cries of the oppressed with the noise-cancelling power of self-centeredness.

CongregationLord, open our ears to be moved and respond to injustice with your love.

Leader: We have used hands which were made for blessing others to instead grip and clench our possessions and idols.

CongregationLord, free our hearts from the grip of greed and help us to find joy in being generous.

Leader: May we learn, deep in our core, the lesson that it is better to give than receive.

CongregationTransform our hearts to be like Jesus, our Lord. Everything we are is his! Amen

BENEDICTION

Leader: Go as followers of Jesus,
who humbled Himself on the cross so that we could live.
Serve with humility, act with mercy,
and embody the hope of His kingdom.
Peace be with you.

Congregation: And also with you!

You deserve the glory

Establish the Work Of Our Hands

If You don't build it, we labor in vain, Without Your Spirit, we stand with no strength
I know my time is passing away, But the works of Your hands are what will remain
Let the favor of the Lord rest upon us

Chorus
O Lord, establish the work of our hands.
O Lord, establish the work of our hands

Verse 2
Teach us to number the length of our days
Pour out Your power, we'll pour out Your praise
Teach us to run, to finish the race
For only what's done in love will remain
Let the favor of the Lord rest upon us

Bridge
Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia
