8.31.25 - West Sunday Gathering Liturgy

West Sunday Gathering Liturgy - August 31,
 2025

Carry Sunday with you into your week by pausing to reflect on the readings, prayers, and songs we shared in together as the body of Christ.

CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader: Come, let us bow down. Let us kneel before the Lord our maker. Come, let us sing to the Lord. Let us shout for joy to the God of our salvation.

Congregation: We joyfully come together as a community to praise and glorify the name of our Lord. In unity of purpose, we commit ourselves to this time of worship. As we bless the Lord together, may we also bless each other in love, service, and encouragement.

CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE

Leader: Thank you, God, for your love and for this community that you have brought us into as your children.

Congregation: We thank you for the people that you have placed in our lives to share life with and point each other to you. We confess that oftentimes we don’t invite others into our lives and to share your love with them. Jesus, may we live by your example to show radical love and hospitality to those around us.

Leader: You sought out the marginalized, those desperately seeking you and you spent time with them, showing them your love and grace.

Congregation: Help us to open our hearts to your spirits leading, that we may display your love to those around us.

COMMITMENT

Leader: This is the good news that we have received, in which we stand, and by which we are saved; that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, and that he was raised to life on the third day.

Congregation: We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. He is our Lord and our God.

Leader: We rejoice that the Spirit of God is transforming our hearts and lives through the Gospel of Jesus, as He is waking and empowering us to see our place in this world.

Congregation: Go forth in us, Spirit of God, that we may be the unified church; as we live out the gospel in loving community, display the gospel as active servants, understand the gospel by being learners of God’s Word, and proclaim the gospel as we purposefully relate to others. Amen.

BENEDICTION

Leader: Go now offering your life, your words, your work, your joys, your wounds, as worship to the One who gave His life for you. Live in His freedom. Walk in His light. Sing His praise with every step. Peace be with you.

Congregation: And also with you!
