5.18.25 - Short North Sunday Gathering Liturgy

Short North Sunday Gathering Liturgy - May 18, 2025

Pause to reflect on the readings, prayers, and songs we share in together as the body of Christ at Sunday morning worship Gatherings.

CALL TO WORSHIP

Congregation: Though we are deserving of judgment, we have received grace.
Though we are guilty of rebellion and sin, we have been given clean records.
By his wounds, we have been healed.
By his death, we have been given life.
By his separation from the Father, we have been welcomed into his house.
By his grief, we have been invited to receive joy.

Leader: Though trials and suffering wait for us around every corner, in his cross we confidently proclaim with reverent awe:

Congregation: It is finished! Praise the Lord, the victory is won!

COMMITMENT

Leader: Your hands are outstretched to us– the hands that made the world, scarred by crucifixion.

Congregation: All we have is in your hands.

Leader: Your hands reach out to heal our bodies and our souls– the hands that made the blind see and the disabled walk.

Congregation: All we are is in your hands.

Leader: Your hands offer a gift of life to us, held next to the scars that were gained as they put Death to death.

Congregation: Take our lives in your hands, Lord. They belong to you! We give them to you. Amen

BENEDICTION

Leader: May the light of the glorious gospel of Christ shine in our hearts, transform our lives, and brighten the world. Peace be with you.

Congregation: And also with you!

It's All In Your Hands

This playlist is updated each week with songs from the previous Sunday's Gathering:

Song Lyrics:

Promises
Verse 1
God of Abraham, God of covenant and of faithful promises
Time and time again You have proven You’ll do just what you said

Pre-Chorus
Though the storms may come and the winds may blow I’ll remain steadfast
And let my heart learn when You speak a word it will come to pass

Chorus
Great is Your faithfulness to me
Great is Your faithfulness to me
From the rising sun to the setting same
I will praise Your name
Great is Your faithfulness to me

Verse 2
God from age to age, Though the earth may pass away,
Your word remains the same
Your history can prove there’s nothing You can’t do,
You’re faithful and True

Bridge
I put my faith in Jesus, My anchor to the ground
My hope and firm foundation, He’ll never let me down
Great Is Thy Faithfulness
Great is Thy Faithfulness

Chorus
Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided
Great is Thy faithfulness," Lord, unto me!
Shepherd
Chorus
Oh Lord, my God,
You are my shepherd, my rock
You are my fortress and my shield
You're the defender of my heart

Bridge
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil
Even in the presence of my enemies,
You prepare a table
How Deep the Father's Love For Us
How Deep the Father’s Love for Us

Verse 1
How deep the Father's love for us, How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son, To make a wretch His treasure
How great the pain of searing loss, The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the Chosen One, Bring many sons to glory

Verse 2
Behold the man upon a cross, My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice, Call out among the scoffers
It was my sin that held Him there, Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life, I know that it is finished

Verse 3
I will not boast in anything, No gifts no power no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ, His death and resurrection
Why should I gain from His reward, I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart, His wounds have paid my ransom

Outro:
Why should I gain from His reward, I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart, His wounds have paid my ransom
Suffering Servant
Chorus
Though all of us have gone astray, Though all have turned to their own ways
The Lord has laid our wickedness on him
His punishment has brought us peace, And crushed for our iniquities
He died to save his people from their sin

Bridge
The might of Yahweh stands revealed
And by his wounds we all are healed
