West Sunday Gathering Liturgy - May 11,
2025
Carry Sunday with you into your week by pausing to reflect on the readings, prayers, and songs we shared in together as the body of Christ.
PSALM
Psalm 132
CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: Church, we come today to remember the moment when Jesus was betrayed — Not caught off guard, not taken by force, but stepping forward with full knowledge of what was coming.
Congregation: He came forward willingly. He did not run. He did not hide.
Leader: In the garden, surrounded by soldiers and torches, He asked them, “Whom do you seek?” And when they answered, “Jesus of Nazareth,” He said, “I am He.”
Congregation: He stood in our place — calm, courageous, and faithful.
Leader: We worship not a distant God, but One who entered betrayal, faced arrest, and walked the path of suffering — for us.
Congregation: He was faithful when we are faithless. He stood so we could be set free.
Leader: So let us worship Him — The One who faced darkness and did not turn away.

CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE
Leader: When the pressure rose, Peter denied Jesus — not once, not twice, but three times.
We like to think we would do better, but we too are prone to falter— in our words, our silence, our pride, our fear.
Congregation: Lord, we confess: We have denied You when we feared what others would think. We have hidden our faith when it was inconvenient. We have followed You at a distance.
Leader: Even still — Jesus does not deny you. He knows your failures and He faced the cross on our behalf. He stood in your place, so that shame would not have the final word.
Congregation: Thank You, Jesus, for standing firm when we could not. Thank You for Your mercy that meets us in our failure.
Leader: Hear this good news: “If we are faithless, He remains faithful — for He cannot deny Himself.” (2 Timothy 2:13) Jesus was betrayed, arrested, and condemned — so that you could be forgiven, restored, and free.
Congregation: In Christ, we are forgiven. In Christ, we are made whole. Thanks be to God!

COMMITMENT
Leader: Jesus was betrayed and arrested — Not by surprise, but by choice. He stood firm in love, so we could stand forgiven.
Congregation: We will follow You, Jesus — Not just in the light, but through the darkness.
Leader: You were bound so we could be free. You were forsaken so we could be brought near.
Congregation: Keep us near You, Lord. You are our Living Hope — We belong to You.

BENEDICTION
Leader: Go now in the peace of Christ — who did not run from betrayal, who did not resist the cup of suffering, but walked the road of arrest, denial, and the cross for you.
May you go with courage, held by the faithfulness of Jesus when your own strength falters.
And may His love — strong, steady, and sure — lead you near to Him in every step this week. Peace be with you.
Congregation: And also with you!
