West Sunday Gathering Liturgy - January 19,
2025
Carry Sunday with you into your week by pausing to reflect on the readings, prayers, and songs we shared in together as the body of Christ.
CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: We come to worship God in our need,
Congregation: bringing with us the needs of the world.
Leader: We come to God, who comes to us in Jesus,
Congregation: who knows through compassionate experience what human life is like.
Leader: We come with our faith and with our doubts,
Congregation: we come with our hopes and our fears.
Leader: We come as we are because it is God who invites us to come,
Congregation: and God, being rich in mercy, has promised never to turn us away. Thanks be to God!

CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE
Leader: Lord, you said "If you love me, you will obey what I command"
Congregation: Forgive us our lukewarm love and our disobedience.
Leader: Lord, you said "You may ask for anything in my name"
Congregation: Forgive us when we think we need to solve our own problems.
Leader: Lord, you said "Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid"
Congregation: We confess that often our lives are consumed with anxiety and worry.
Leader: Lord, you said "If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit"
Congregation: Forgive our barren lives, Lord.

COMMITMENT
Leader: God and Father of Jesus, You have sent Your Son to be our Savior: our light in the midst of darkness, our rescue from the raging floods, our hope in the face of threats, our peace amid turmoil.
Congregation: We praise You for salvation!
Leader: God, you have given us the gift of your Son, Jesus Christ.
May we flee to no other refuge,
Wash in no other fountain,
Build on no other foundation,
Rest in no other relief.
Congregation: Shape our loves, desires, and affections toward You, that you may build in us a thirst for Your satisfying Word.
Give us a longing for your comforting voice.
Give us joy in speaking Your truth to those that have not heard it.
May we be faithful stewards of all You have given us.
We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
