11.17.24 - Short North Gathering Liturgy

Short North Sunday Gathering Liturgy - November 17,
 2024

Carry Sunday with you into your week by pausing to reflect on the readings, prayers, and songs we shared in together as the body of Christ.

CALL TO WORSHIP

Lord, we pray the words of Psalm 89:15 back to you:

“Happy are those who hear the joyful call to worship,  for they will walk in the light of your presence, Lord.” Holy Spirit, we welcome your presence with us this morning! Fill this room with your power, and turn our eyes to Jesus, our Lord and King, both now and forever!

Amen

CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE

Congregation: We need you when we fail and feel worthless, to remind us that our worth is found in your love for us. We need you when we succeed and feel worthy, to remind us that our worth is not found in our works.

Congregation: We need you on the exciting days, to remind us to be grateful. We need you on the mundane days, to remind us to be faithful.

Congregation: We need you when we strive to love you and our neighbors, to give us the supernatural love of Christ. We need you when we struggle with temptation and sin, to root us in the enduring victory of Christ.

COMMITMENT

Congregation: We believe there is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus; for we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to God’s purpose.

Congregation: We are convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

BENEDICTION

Leader: For freedom Christ has set us free; let us stand firm therefore, and not submit again to a yoke of slavery. Let us go forth in the name of the Lord, giving our allegiance to Jesus Christ and loving one another as he commanded. Peace be with you.

Congregation: And also with you!
