10.27.24 - Short North Gathering Liturgy

Short North Sunday Gathering Liturgy - October 27,
 2024

Carry Sunday with you into your week by pausing to reflect on the readings, prayers, and songs we shared in together as the body of Christ.

CALL TO WORSHIP

Come, let us sing joyfully to the LORD, the Rock of our salvation! Let us come to him with songs of thanksgiving and praise. For the LORD is a great God, the great King above all gods.He holds in his hands the depths of the earth and the mightiest mountains. The sea belongs to him, for he made it. His hands formed the dry land. Come, let us worship and bow down and humbly worship the LORD our maker, for he is our God. And we are the people he lovingly watches over with tender care.

— Psalm 95:1-7

CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE

Leader: As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.

Congregation: God of Mercy, we confess that in our longing we have often turned to the things of this world and made them our functional saviors instead of turning to you, the One our souls were made to long for.

Congregation: Jesus, our Faithful Shepherd, lead our hearts to your hope!

Calm the turmoil within us that comes from the darkness of this world and from the sin we wrestle with.

Forgive, heal, and comfort us with your grace, and renew in us the joy of the salvation you’ve given us.

BENEDICTION

Leader: May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace
that comes from the presence of Jesus,
so that by the power of the Holy Spirit, you may abound in hope in all things.

Go now in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Peace be with you.

Congregation: And also with you!

From Romans 15
