10.6.24 - West Gathering Liturgy

West Sunday Gathering Liturgy - October 6, 2024

Carry Sunday with you into your week by pausing to reflect on the readings, prayers, and songs we shared in together as the body of Christ.

CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader: God who is beyond us, maker of heaven and earth–

Congregation: open our eyes to see the wonder of creation!

Leader: God was made known in the life of Jesus the Christ

Congregation: Open our hearts to know the deep love of Christ!

Leader: God who lives in each one of us as Spirit Holy fire to kindle our true purpose

Congregation: Open our beings to each other to confirm that we all belong, and together we can give birth to your new earth.

CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE

Leader: Gracious Father, you sent your son to die and rise to new life in order that death might be brought to an end and that we might live a new life in Him. Yet, we confess that we too often have chosen to remain captive to doubt and fear and ways that lead to death. By our thoughts, words, and actions, we have scorned your love, diminished the lives of others, and defaced your image in us.

Congregation: Father, forgive us for Jesus' sake, and enable us by His resurrection power to live no longer for ourselves but for Him who died and rose again for us. Amen.

Leader: Know this: Jesus was delivered over to death for our sins and raised to life for our justification. Alleluia.

-Adapted from Romans 4:25

COMMITMENT

Leader: As followers of Jesus Christ, living in this world- which some seek to control, but which others view with despair- we declare with joy and trust:

Congregation: Our world belongs to God!

Leader: From the beginning, through all the crises of our times, until his kingdom fully comes, God keeps his covenant forever.

Congregation: Our world belong to him! God is King! Let the earth be glad! Christ is victor; his rule has begun. Hallelujah! The Spirit is at work, renewing all creation. Praise the Lord!

BENEDICTION

Leader: Now to him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly more than all we can ask or imagine, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus forever and ever! Peace be with you.

Congregation: And also with you!
