West Sunday Gathering Liturgy - September 29, 2024
Carry Sunday with you into your week by pausing to reflect on the readings, prayers, and songs we shared in together as the body of Christ.
CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: God who is beyond us, maker of heaven and earth
Congregation: open our eyes to see the wonder of creation!
Leader: God was made known in the life of Jesus the Christ
Congregation: Open our hearts to know the deep love of Christ!
Leader: God who lives in each one of us as Spirit Holy fire to kindle our true purpose
Congregation: Open our beings to each other to confirm that we all belong, and together we can give birth to your new earth.

CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE
Leader: Father, the emptiness in our hearts has revealed how much we need You. We have filled our hearts with our jobs, our relationships, and other distractions. We have bought into the lie that we find final fulfillment in our earthly desires.
Congregation: Lord, we come to you for complete satisfaction. We humble ourselves at your feet to quench this thirst that we have tried time and time again to satisfy on our own.
Leader: We confess today that our sins are broken cisterns that can’t compete with You. Jesus, You alone can heal what sin has broken. We see Your perfect example of love for us in Your death on the cross.
Spirit of the living God, come and heal us now through our confession and through Your mighty power over sin.
Congregation: Almighty God, there is salvation in no other name! Lead us to thirst for righteousness! Cause our love for You to abound that we would love others! Use us for Your glory, that You would be magnified!

COMMITMENT
Leader: As followers of Jesus Christ, living in this world, which some seek to control, but which others view with despair, we declare with joy and trust:
Congregation: Our world belongs to God!
Leader: From the beginning, through all the crises of our times, until his kingdom fully comes, God keeps his covenant forever.
Congregation: Our world belong to him! God is King! Let the earth be glad! Christ is victor; his rule has begun. Hallelujah! The Spirit is at work, renewing all creation. Praise the Lord!

BENEDICTION
Leader: Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Peace be with you.
Congregation: And also with you!
