Short North Sunday Gathering Liturgy - August 18, 2024
Carry Sunday with you into your week by pausing to reflect on the readings, prayers, and songs we shared in together as the body of Christ.
CALL TO WORSHIP
Congregation: I love you, O LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
Leader: In my distress I called upon the LORD and my cry to him reached his ears. The earth reeled and rocked; the foundations also of the mountains trembled and quaked. He sent from on high, he took me; he drew me out of many waters.
Congregation: He rescued me, because he delighted in me. For this I will praise you, O LORD, among the nations, and sing to your name.

CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE
Leader: Lord, we confess that more often than not, our spiritual lives feel desolate. We don’t feel Your presence and this causes us despair.
Congregation: My soul is downcast within me. Why have you forgotten me, Oh Lord. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.
Leader: Let our hearts be reminded of Your truth, that we may be encouraged.
Congregation: Through Jesus, all things in heaven and on earth were created, things visible and invisible. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
Leader: You tell us that you give breath and life to mankind, and know each one of us intimately.
Congregation: Lord, You say that you are not far from us, for in You, we live and move and have our being.
Leader: Let’s rejoice in this reality, the reality that Our Father is near, nearer to us than we can understand. Thank you Father.
- Based on Psalm 42, Colossians 1:15-16, Acts 17:23 25-28

BENEDICTION
Leader: May the God who knows us and delights in us stir our hearts to leave our sin and idolatry behind, seeking instead to know and delight in him, the one who gives living water. Peace be with you.
