5.19.24 - Short North Gathering Liturgy

Short North Sunday Gathering Liturgy - May 19, 2024

Carry Sunday into your week with you by continuing to reflect on the readings, prayers, and songs we shared in together as the body of Christ.

CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader: Oh come, let us sing to the LORD; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!

Congregation: Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!

Leader: For the LORD is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In his hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his also. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.

Congregation:
Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker! For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand.

Based on Psalm 95

CALL TO CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE

Leader: Father, Jesus shows us a new way of living. Yet, we so easily forget that Your grace is working in us and through us to transform our lives.

Congregation: We confess that we often forget your promise to make all things new, and instead follow the desires and devices of our own hearts.

Leader: The grave clothes still bind us. We ask for your help in throwing off the old ways.

Congregation:
Give us the strength to break the bonds of familiarity, that we may desire to know you more.

Reveal to us our ingrained habits, that we may follow Your way and not ours.

Shine your light unto our hidden fears of unworthiness, that we may act in light of Your Grace, and rest on the finished work of Jesus.

We repent and turn to you. Forgive us and renew our lives through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Based on a reading from The Worship Sourcebook
