3.15.26 - Short North Sunday Gathering Liturgy

Short North Sunday Gathering Liturgy - March 15, 2026

Pause to reflect on the readings, prayers, and songs we share in together as the body of Christ at Sunday morning worship Gatherings.

CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader: “To whom will you compare me?
    Who is my equal?” asks the Holy One.
Look up into the heavens.
    Who created all the stars?
He brings them out like an army, one after another,
    calling each by its name.
Because of his great power and incomparable strength,
    not a single one is missing.

CongregationHave you never heard?
    Have you never understood?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
    the Creator of all the earth.
He never grows weak or weary.
    No one can measure the depths of his understanding.
He gives power to the weak
    and strength to the powerless.
Even youths will become weak and tired,
    and young men will fall in exhaustion.
But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.
    They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary.
    They will walk and not faint.

CONFESSION

Poem for quiet reflection:

In your deep silence and your mystery
You led me to confess and be forgiven.
You gave me the relief of honesty.
How long and bitterly I might have striven
With all the guilt that I could hardly name
How painfully my heart might have been riven
By hidden memories and secret shame
Instead you blessed me with a new beginning
Unbound me from bands and brands of blame
My false accounts of losing or of winning
And called me to come forth like Lazarus
And start my life again, rejoicing, singing
Baptised and born in your mysterious
And all-involving love, a love that lifts,
A love that comforts and embraces us.

BENEDICTION

Leader: Go now with the freedom of unveiled faces, reflecting the glory of the Father and the Son. Be filled with the Lord, who is the Spirit of Freedom–the One who transforms you more and more into his image. Peace be with you!

CongregationAnd also with you!

Sunday's music:

Come Thou Fount
Praise The Lord
After You
I Am Set Free
Spirit of the Living God

This playlist is updated each week with songs from the previous Sunday's Gathering:
Come Thou Fount
Verse 1
Come Thou fount of every blessing, Tune my heart to sing Thy grace
Streams of mercy never ceasing, Call for songs of loudest praise
Teach me some melodious sonnet, Sung by flaming tongues above
Praise the mount I'm fixed upon it, Mount of God's unchanging love

Verse 2
Sorr'wing I shall be in spirit, Till released from flesh and sin,
Yet from what I do inherit, Here Thy praises I'll begin;
Here I raise my Ebenezer; Here by Thy great help I’ve come;
And I hope, by Thy good pleasure, Safely to arrive at home.

Verse 3
Jesus sought me when a stranger, Wandering from the fold of God;
He, to rescue me from danger, Interposed His precious blood;
How His kindness yet pursues me, Mortal tongue can never tell,
Clothed in flesh, till death shall loose me, I cannot proclaim it well.
Instrumental:

Verse 4
O to grace how great a debtor, Daily I'm constrained to be
Let Thy goodness like a fetter, Bind my wand'ring heart to Thee
Prone to wander Lord I feel it, Prone to leave the God I love
Here's my heart O take and seal it, Seal it for Thy courts above

Verse 5
O that day when freed from sinning, I shall see Thy lovely face;
Clothed then in Thy blood washed linen, How I’ll sing Thy sovereign grace;
Come, my Lord, no longer tarry, Take my ransomed soul away;
Send thine angels now to carry, Me to realms of endless day.

Praise the Lord

Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, the King of crea tion!
O my soul, praise Him, for He is your health and salvat ion!
All you who hear, now to His temple draw near,
Praise Him in glad adoration

Verse 2:
Praise to the Lord, who so wondrously reigns over all things
Gently sustaining you; sheltering under his broad wings
Have you not seen how your desires have been
Granted in what he's ordaining?

Verse 3:
Praise to the Lord, who will prosper your work and defend you;
Morning by morning His kindness and mercy surround you
Wonder anew, what the Almighty can do,
If with His love he befriends you

Praise to the Lord, O let all that is in me adore Him!
All that has life and breath, come now with praises before Him.
Let the Amen sound from His people a gain,
Gladly for- Yes!- we adore him

Ending:
Praise Him, Praise Him, Praise Him,
Consider Him
Verse 1
For the joy set before him
He endured the cross
Knowing from the beginning
It would be worth the cost

Fix your eyes
O my soul
On the one
Who gave it all

Consider Him the Author and
The Finisher Oh lift your head and look to Him
The Son of Man
My weariness is swallowed in
The kindness of our covenant
Consider this, consider Him
He is everything

For the joy set before us
We will lay aside
Every weight, every burden
To behold our prize

Pre-Chorus 2
Turn from all
Other things
Set our gaze
On the King

Focused on Your face
You won’t let us grow weary

It’s a pilgrimage
You won’t let us lose heart

He is everything
He is everything
He is everything
He is everything
