4.13.25 - West Sunday Gathering Liturgy

West Sunday Gathering Liturgy - April 13,
 2025

Carry Sunday with you into your week by pausing to reflect on the readings, prayers, and songs we shared in together as the body of Christ.

PSALM

Psalm 13

CALL TO WORSHIP

Congregation: Lord Jesus, as we gather to worship you as King, may we see you for who you truly are: a king who did not arrive as the world expected, but a humble king who came to serve rather than be served. You are a king who came to give your life as as a ransom for many. Give us eyes to see you, ears to hear you, and hearts to worship you. Amen.

CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE

Leader: As we enter Holy Week, we remember that when God appeared on earth in the person of Jesus, most of the world did not recognize him and did not worship him.

Congregation: Today we ask for faith that will open our eyes to see Jesus for who he is, that we might worship him in truth. People of God, behold and see your God! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest!

- From Psalm 118, Zechariah 9

COMMITMENT

Leader: God, whose gracious love for us embraced that long and lonely journey to the cross, help us to contemplate the way taken by our Savior. Jesus faced false charges, betrayals, violence, the crown of thorns, and the cross itself.

Congregation: God, may the sacrifice of your Son always be in our hearts and minds. Deepen our faith by your matchless grace. Deepen our gratitude and obedience.  Help us remember that you have gone before us, so we look to you for compassion and forgiveness, knowing you are able to save. Amen.

BENEDICTION

Leader: May God speak to you through the suffering and death of Jesus Christ, that by the power of the Holy Spirit, you may receive grace to show Christ's love to the world. Peace be with you.

Congregation: And also with you!
