Short North Sunday Gathering Liturgy - March 16, 2025
Pause to reflect on the readings, prayers, and songs we share in together as the body of Christ at Sunday morning worship Gatherings.
CALL TO WORSHIP
Leader: I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you.
I will put my Spirit within you.
You shall be my people, and I will be your God.
Congregation: Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth!
Serve the LORD with gladness!
Come into his presence with singing!
Know that the LORD, he is God!
It is he who made us, and we are his;
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.
- From Psalm 100

CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE
Congregation: God of mercy, you sent Jesus Christ to seek and save the lost. We confess that we have strayed from you and turned aside from your way. We are misled by pride, for we see ourselves pure when we are stained, and great when we are small. We have failed in love, neglected justice, and ignored your truth. Have mercy, O God, and forgive our sin.
- Based on the Lent prayer of confession, p. 236 The Book of Common Worship
Leader: Lent is also a time to look forward, to prepare our hearts for the joyous news of Easter. The Lord says, “Those who love me, I will deliver, I will protect those who know my name. When they call to me, I will answer them; I will be with them in trouble, I will rescue them and honor them and show them my salvation.” Friends, we have assurance in Jesus Christ, that we are loved, and forgiven, and called righteous. Read this assurance with me.
—based on Psalm 91:14-15, NRSV. The Worship Sourcebook p. 568
Congregation: O Christ, out of your fullness we have all received grace upon grace. You are our eternal hope; you are patient and full of mercy; you are generous to all who call upon you. Return us to paths of righteousness through Jesus Christ. Amen.
- Based on the Book of Common Worship, p. 235, 236
BENEDICTION
Leader: May the love of God the Father, the faithful creator, and the peace of Christ, the wounded healer, and the joy of the challenging Spirit, together as the hope of the Three in One, surround and encourage you as you go from here. Peace be with you.
Congregation: And also with you!
Congregation: And also with you!
