3.2.25 - West Sunday Gathering Liturgy

West Sunday Gathering Liturgy - March 2nd,
 2025

Carry Sunday with you into your week by pausing to reflect on the readings, prayers, and songs we shared in together as the body of Christ.

CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader: Church, each week we begin our time together by reading from the Psalms. In this we are lifting our voices to join the Church across generations in thanksgiving, lament, and praise.

These are prayers and songs of God’s people that remind us of His faithfulness, His love, and His power to meet us right where we are. Whether you’re coming today to celebrate, to seek, or to simply be still, these words are for all of us.

Let us open our hearts to hear from God together.

Congregation: Lord, we join the chorus of your people through the ages. Let these words shape our worship, renew our hearts, and remind us of Your faithfulness.

- Psalm 56

Leader: This is the word of the Lord.

Congregation: Thanks be to God.

CONFESSION AND ASSURANCE

Leader: Jesus, the King of all, stooped low to wash the feet of His disciples. He came not to be served, but to serve—to cleanse hearts, to bear our sin, and to make us whole. Yet so often, we resist His grace, clinging to pride, refusing to let Him wash us.

Congregation: Lord, we confess that we have sought status over service, self over surrender. We have resisted Your cleansing, forgetting that without You, we are incomplete.

Leader: But hear this: Jesus does not turn away the weary. He does not withhold His mercy. He kneels before the undeserving, even washing the feet of His betrayer. And now, He calls us to come—not as those who have cleaned ourselves, but as those in need of His cleansing love.

Congregation: Thanks be to God! In Christ, we are fully known, fully loved, and fully forgiven.

CONFESSION & ASSURANCE

Leader: Father, though You have called us Your children, we confess that we often live as if we are still orphans—striving for worth, chasing Your approval, and doubting Your love. We have resisted Your ways and clung to lesser things.

Congregation: Lord, forgive us. We have forgotten who we are in You.

Leader: But hear the good news: In Christ, you are no longer slaves to sin. You are no longer defined by your failures or fears. The Father has claimed you, redeemed you, and set His love upon you.

Congregation: In Jesus, we are chosen, not forsaken!

Leader: So lift your heads, beloved of God. You are His—fully known, fully loved, and forever welcomed.

COMMITMENT

Leader: We have just declared the truth—Jesus has paid it all. Every sin, every failure, every moment of doubt has been covered by His grace.

Congregation: We are washed white as snow, fully redeemed by His sacrifice!

Leader: Yet grace does not leave us where we are. It calls us to return—to lay down our burdens, to stop running to empty things, and to run to the Father who stands with open arms.

Congregation: We will not hide, we will not delay—We turn from our resistance, we surrender our fear, and we run into the arms of our faithful Father!

Leader: So come, church. Bring your weariness, your wounds, your wandering hearts. He is waiting, He is calling—come and rest in His grace.

BENEDICTION

Leader: So go now, not in striving but in surrender, not in fear but in the confidence that you are His. Love one another as He has loved you, that the world may see and know that you belong to Him. Peace be with you.

Congregation: And also with you!
