3.2.25 - Short North Gathering Liturgy

Short North Sunday Gathering Liturgy - March 2, 2023

Pause to reflect on the readings, prayers, and songs we share in together as the body of Christ at Sunday morning worship Gatherings.

CALL TO WORSHIP

Leader: People of this church, who is your God?
Congregation: Our God is Alpha, Omega, Beginning, and End; Creator of All Things, Sustainer of All Life, Giver of All Good Gifts; Compassionate, Gracious, Slow to Anger, Abounding in Steadfast Love.

Leader: People of God, who are you?
Congregation: We are the children of the Most High King; A chosen people, loved and adored; A holy nation of royal priests, God’s very own possession.

Leader: People of God, why are you here today?
Congregation: We are here to worship Jesus, the Risen King; God-With-Us, Mighty to Save, Who fills our lungs with breath that we may sing his praise!

COMMITMENT

Leader: Dear friends, let us continue to love one another, because God is love. Anyone who loves is a child of God and knows God. The one who doesn’t love has yet to know God, for God is love.

Congregation: The light of God’s love shined within us when he sent his matchless Son into the world so that we might live through him. This is love: He loved us long before we loved him. It was his love, not ours. He proved it by sending his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.

Leader: Dear friends, if he loved us with such tremendous love, then loving one another should be our way of life!

Congregation: No one has ever gazed upon the fullness of God’s splendor.  But if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.

- Based on 1 John 4:7-12

BENEDICTION

Leader: May we go from here building our lives upon the promises of God, finding our identity in the death and resurrection of Christ. May we be transformed into a people that are characterized by humility, gentleness, patience, and eager willingness to bear with one another in love through the power of the Holy Spirit and the grace we have received through Jesus, our Savior. Peace be with you.

Congregation: And also with you!

— Based on Colossians 2:13-15 and Ephesians 4:1-3
