Short North Sunday Gathering Liturgy - April 21, 2024
Carry Sunday into your week with you by continuing to reflect on the readings, prayers, and songs we shared in together as the body of Christ.
CALL TO WORSHIP PRAYER
Leader: With joy we praise you, gracious God, for you created heaven and earth, made us in your image, and kept covenant with us—even when we fell into sin. You invite us to the cross even in the midst of our brokenness. In the work of Your Son, Jesus, You give us life, redeeming and restoring your image in us.
Congregation: We give you thanks for Jesus Christ, our Lord, who by His life, death, and resurrection opened to us the way of everlasting life. Therefore we join our voices with the saints and angels and the whole creation to proclaim the glory of your name.
Based on a reading from the Worship Sourcebook.

CALL TO CONFESSION
Leader: Creator God, who set the stars in their places and directs the course of the planets; who robed this earth with a thin garment of air, making it a haven of beauty and life, who breathed into each of us the breath of life;
Congregation: forgive us for we have forsaken your goodness for the pursuit of selfish desires. Empty us of our selfishness and fill us with a renewed sense of wonder and delight in your goodness. Create in us a desire to worship you, so that in all things, we would bring honor and glory to your holy name. Amen.

COMMITMENT
Leader: God and Father of Jesus, You have sent Your Son to be our Savior: our light in the midst of darkness, our rescue from the raging floods, our hope in the face of threats, our peace amid turmoil.
Congregation: We praise You for salvation!
Leader: Send us forth from this gathering with a renewed awakening to the Glory of Christ and with a renewed passion to declare and demonstrate Christ’s love and mercy to the world around us.
Congregation: Cause us to trust and worship Him with all that we do, that we may live for Your glory. This we ask in the name of Jesus, the Lord. Amen.

BENEDICTION
Leader: Go now and see the kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God. Dear friends, go with peace and comfort knowing that we are God’s beloved children. Go in the name of the Father, the Son and Holy Spirit. Peace be with you.
Peace be with you!
Congregation: And also with you.
